Major General (MG) Celia L. Adolphi grew up in Indiana. She enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves as a clerk typist and went to the Women's Army Corp (WAC) Enlisted Course at Fort McClellan in the summer of 1977. She received direct appointment in June 1978 as a captain, at the age of 34.
